The Fourth is an Edmonton shop located in Southgate Centre. We're helping small businesses who are looking for a place to do fun events and workshops!
Why a free space?
We believe in helping small businesses and supporting our local community.
The Fourth is one of the few free places in Edmonton where you can host an event without incurring any fees. No venue fee means you get to keep more money to support your small business.
We are looking for small businesses who's mission and vision align with ours. These events are open to the public and encourage people to gather and have fun!
What we provide
+ A free venue in the centre of our shop
+ Three 6' folding tables
+ 12 folding chairs
+ $10 gift card to The Fourth AND an additional 10% off all purchases made the same day of the workshop for all attendees
Gift cards must be used same day as the workshop. One gift card use per customer per workshop. Gift cards will only be given to attendees who have paid for a ticket to the workshop. Please provide names of attendees prior to the workshop to receive gift cards.
About your event
If you've been running events and are looking for a new venue, we would love to work with you!
Are you new to events and thinking of trying for the first time? This is the perfect opportunity to figure out first steps.
We will work with you to figure out how to run events in our store. We understand every event is different and we look forward to chatting about the finer details to have it run smoothly.
We are only able to run one event at a time in our shop. We advise you book in advance if you are looking for a particular date.
Set up and take down
We are open Monday to Friday 10AM to 9PM, Saturday 10AM to 7PM and Sunday 11AM to 6PM. Our store hours may change due to holidays and follows Southgate Centre holiday hours.
You may set up for your workshop during store hours.
You are responsible for clean up of all your workshop materials. The space should look like how it was when you arrived. Our staff should only need to put away tables and chairs and do minor sweeping after your workshop.
Take down and clean up must be completely finished within 90 minutes of store closing. To respect the time of our hardworking staff, there will be a fee incurred if your takedown and clean up goes beyond this time window.
Workshop restrictions
The Fourth is highly curated and a family friendly space. We are a fully functioning shop and require attending to our customers while your workshop is ongoing.
Please stay within the areas of the workshop.
+ No workshops during these times: Mondays 3:00PM to 9:00PM, Tuesdays 12:30PM to 3:30PM and Wednesdays 10:00AM to 12:30PM.
+ No alcohol
+ No balloons
+ No glitter
+ Decorative items not pertaining to the workshop itself will be limited. All decor must be pre-approved by The Fourth.
+ Signage must be stand alone and stable. All signage must be pre-approved by The Fourth.
+ The Fourth does not hand out and/or display any marketing materials
+ We are not able to change our music to your playlist
We may ask at any time before and during the workshop that certain materials and products not be brought into the store or removed from the premises.
All workshops must be approved by The Fourth.
Please note, we may decline hosting your workshop for a number of reasons. Please be kind and courteous as we are providing a completely free venue to help small businesses. We are unable to accommodate everyone as running our small business will always be our first priority. Thank you for your understanding!
How to book your workshop
Please email Iris at info@the-fourth.ca to book your workshop and include:
1) What is your workshop about?
2) What materials and supplies are you bringing?
3) What are the maximum participants in your workshop?
4) What's your minimum participants needed? What's your cancellation date for the event if you don't meet your minimum (number of days before the event)?
5) Do you need access to water / sink?
6) Do you need access to electrical outlets? If so, how many?
7) How much space do you need?
8) Are you bringing food and/or drinks?
9) What dates and times would you like to book for?
How you can prepare
AFTER BOOKING
1) Email info@the-fourth.ca the name and description of your workshop. Also include a link to where participants can purchase tickets.
2) You will be responsible for selling tickets and marketing for your workshop. The Fourth is not able to sell tickets for your event nor hand out marketing materials. We will do our best to share with our customers on our website, social media and in store.
3) Send photos of signage and decorations for workshop for approval.
24 to 48 HOURS PRIOR
1) Confirm time of set up and take down.
2) Confirm the finalized number of workshop participants.
3) Confirm number of tables and chairs required.
DAY OF
1) Introduce yourself to The Fourth staff when you arrive.
2) Inform The Fourth of any staff and/or helpers on your team.
3) Inform The Fourth staff of intended layout with tables and chairs. There may be restrictions in furniture placement for safety reasons and/or to allow our customers to continue shopping during your workshop.
4) Inform our staff if the volume of music needs to be lowered during your workshop.
5) Bring all materials and supplies you may need.
6) Bring tablecloths for each folding table you intend to use.
7) If using electrical outlets, all cords and extension cords must be taped down.
8) Inform our staff if you need a small or large garbage can for your workshop.
Our location
The Fourth is located on the second level of Southgate Centre. We are above Guest Services and the LEGO store.
We are located next to a main entrance on the second level with ample parking. You can also take the elevator or stairs from the main level of Southgate Centre to reach our store.
